A Retrospective of Our Dream Launch Show and What We're Dreaming Up Next

For the launch of Fiercely Made in September 2014, we threw a week long pop up gallery show, boutique and party to celebrate and honor all 20 makers who contributed to making this show such a success! (and thanks to Fiercely Curious, we had some lovely eye candy on the walls, too).

A sincere thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who came and everyone who helped make this show a success.

But first, a quick recap - Wed marked the end of our pop-up show in Gowanus. Across 6 days we hosted over 500 people through our 3,500 sq ft space, drank 20+ cases of Brooklyn Brewery's finest and generally had an amazing time. We had surfboards and skateboards suspended from the ceiling (thanks Wax / Surf Co & Daniel Moyer of Funkinfunction!) and over 22 Brooklyn makers representing their work.

Friday - It's Launch Time!

Show Curation

Vignettes - rooms in our dream home!

Celebration Time!

Great to have the Meteor Dog come out to play.

All in the Details!

Saturday & Sunday Live Demos & Live Music

Saturday evening we had a live pottery demo from Brooke Winfrey of BTW Ceramics and live music from Thomas Callahan & Bill Logan. Great to see ceramics being thrown on the wheel and live bluegrass from Thomas of Horse Cycles.

Sunday evening we had a joint live performance - Signe Yberg spinning pottery on her wheel while Brandon Lopez played the upright bass. We were mesmerized by the flow and magic of seeing both performers interact with each other. Watch this space for more events like this...

Closing Reception

In proper celebratory fashion, we tore down the house and closed the place out in style with a whisky tasting from the local Red Hook distillery Widow Jane (thanks guys! delicious indeed) followed by a live performance by the Greenpoint band Cathy (thanks Bill, Jeremy and crew)!

And now a BIG Thank You!

We owe some serious thank yous. Firstly, thank you to all the makers for being amazing to work with and so helpful during install and during the parties. THANK YOU!

Mailchimp - THANK YOU! This event was made possible because of Mailchimp. We use them here at Fiercely Made & Fiercely Curious and if you need a service that helps manage email lists and send emails there's seriously no one else you should be using. Thank you thank you thank you for your support and for being awesome.

Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Wine Exchange & Widow Jane - THANK YOU! You helped keep the booze flowing during our event and helped a small new outfit afford to keep locals happy.

Bekka Palmer - THANK YOU! Not only did Bekka loan us her surfboard and trusted us to hang it from the ceiling but she also gave emotional support, coverage for the space while we were away and just general good vibes. Oh - and kick ass photos. Thank you thank you thank you. Keep being you.

What's next for Fiercely Made?

Right now we're hard at work fulfilling all our orders and scoping out custom jobs that we've had. We're excited to be able to offer one-of-a-kind pieces as well as the works you see on the site and so far we're selling both really well. Great!

Next on the agenda is telling the stories of our makers! We have 22 makers and an almost infinite supply of stories, interviews, photo essays and more lined up here on the blog as we hand pick amazing stories to tell. So watch this space.

Oh - and we'll be back sometime in Nov/Dec for another pop-up show. If you know of an amazing space we could use please get in touch! hello@fiercelymade.com

Much love always

Erin & Tom xoxo
