VAN LEEUWEN VINYLS - Mark spins Yo La Tengo
It's been a few weeks since our last Van Leeuwen Vinyls post but it was sunny enough today for us to step into our favorite local coffee shop, grab an iced coffee and see what was playing. We featured Mark before - if you want to see more about him click here.

Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One

Hoboken, NJ based indie rock band named themselves Yo La Tengo after a baseball anecdote:

In 1962 New York Mets center fielder Richie Ashburn and Venezuelan shortstop Elio Chacón collided as Ashburn screamed “I got it!” when going for the catch. He later learned to yell, "¡Yo la tengo!” in Spanish for Chacón to understand him. Regardless, Ashburn ultimately collided with left fielder Frank Thomas who missed the outfield meeting stating “Yo La Tengo” was the key word to avoid collisions.
Baseball fan or not, if you’re leaving town for some springtime roadtripping, be sure to add Yo La Tengo to your playlist…you’ll enjoy the whittling away of soft beats interspersed with just good classic rock.
Great for romantics too… check out Shadows

Husband and wife Georgia and Ira have been playing together in this band for decades! Their hearts must indeed be beating as one. Let's hope yours are too.

Thanks Mark, for sharing more of your favorites with us!
