Size: 3.14" x 3.14" x .75"

Material: Handcast White Hydrocal

Description

PI Project, created by Chris Klapper and Patrick Gallagher is aiming to become the largest geographic art installation in the world.

They begin this process by hand casting individual sculptures of the numerical sequence of PI. As the work ships around the world, they will track the expansion of the project’s database with a web based visualized map, pinpointing three elements of each sculpture: the geo-locations, the individual numbers and their specific position along the sequence of this transcendental number. This data will be available in real-time and visualized on an interactive world map, connecting each sculpture and its collector into a unique global community.

This installation is available to everyone in the world and we are hopeful this project will span decades.

Tracking the project through online sales and promoting it on social media, this will be an infinite series — continuously updated and always adaptive. Each year will bring new sets of numbers and new ways of visualizing the data.

PI Project is part of a much larger series called Real Numbers.

Artists, Patrick Gallagher and Chris Klapper are introducing a new minimalist approach to exploring the poetry of numbers.

SCULPTURES
Each piece is hand cast from white gypsum cement and will come with a Certificate of Authenticity showing the placement of the number within the PI sequence.

Become a global collector in the PI Project community by purchasing one or more of the PI pieces.

Each piece is $30 and includes shipping.

Note: the actual number/s you will receive will be revealed upon arrival as they are made and shipped following the sequence in which they were purchased.

We encourage collectors to share images of their numbers on social media such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook with #PI #PIProject #dataatadata2018

About Ian Trask
Ian’s visual art has been displayed in the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Recession Art, the Wassaic Project, Bertrand Delacroix Gallery, Bushwick Open Studios and DUMBO Arts Festival to name a few. In 2007 he took a temporary job as a hospital groundskeeper; a job which helped define his approach to artwork and the creative process. He sees the artistic potential of waste, making us consider the mark that we inevitably leave behind. He currently works at the Invisible Dog Studios in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
